What can you do without a consent?

A team of people building a house together, using scaffolding

Did you know there are many things you can do without the need to gain an approved consent? In recent times, parts of the Building Act have been relaxed to allow homeowners to renovate and upgrade elements of their homes.

Most of this allowed work is non-structural; however there is a lot you can do yourself.

We recommend checking out schedule 1 of the Building Act – a guide to work that does not require consent. Reading this guide will save you a lot of stress in the future. If you have any questions call Simon on 021 556 401.
